The large surface area of the table makes it ideal for serving meals out of the dining area. It is quite sturdy and won't collapse on you and I really like the appearance which is real furniture instead of fiberboard. It is very good for sorting mail, signing checks and greeting cards, as a extra food station, or anywhere an extra table is needed temporarily. It is a little heavy but worth the trade-off for its sturdiness.
